New company Rotovia acquires Berry Global rotational molding business

A new company called Rotovia has acquired the rotational molding business of Berry Global Group Inc. of Evansville, Indiana, to become an international supplier of rotational molding products. Rotovia CEO Daði Valdimarsson told Plastics News in an emailed statement: “Rotovia will operate a lean headquarters in Europe, with no major changes planned to its current manufacturing footprint.” “Our purpose is to grow the company both externally and internally, and our plan is to invest in expanding the sales organization of our well-known proprietary products,” Valdimarsson said. “Some of our plants are under capacity and we will respond very quickly to continue serving our customers. No downsizing is expected as all major market segments are showing strong demand.” Valdimarsson added: “It is great to see the ownership of the business returning to Iceland, where a large part of the business and top management are based.” According to a June 7 press release, Rotovia is owned by Icelandic private equity funds Freyja and SÍA IV and primarily manages the rotomolding business. Rotovia now has 14 operations in 10 countries in Europe and Canada, according to the release. It has about 800 employees. “Under the new ownership, Rotovia plans to continue building important long-term relationships with customers, invest further in automation and proprietary products, and place an increased emphasis on sustainable products,” it said. “Rotovia will have a strong global footprint through an extensive network of sales offices and serve a diverse customer base across multiple end industries, with a particular focus on the food sector.” Berry Global also recently sold Australia-based Synergy Packaging to PACT Group Holdings Ltd., according to a June 4 press release. Synergy manufactures PET and HDPE plastic packaging, cooler boxauto partsgarden product.
